Our physicians will prescribe enough medication to last until your next scheduled office visit.

However, you may have a situation where you need a refill for a prescription but are unable to come in to see your doctor.

There are two options available:

1. Book a telephone appointment with your physician – this is an insured service and your appointment will be covered by your Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP).

2. Use our ExpressRX prescription refill service – this is an uninsured service not covered by your AHCIP. You will have to pay a fee for to use this service.

Please be aware, certain medications like narcotics, will not be refilled without visiting your doctor. Also, certain medications require routine follow up and testing. This is particularly true when you have been diagnosed with a new or unstable medical problem, prescribed a new medication, or if the dose of an old medication has been adjusted.

We will not sacrifice your safety for your convenience; your physician reserves the right to refuse your request if it is not felt to be in the best interest of your health.

Simply call (780) 436-MEDS (436-6337) or (780) 801-3366 ext 5. Follow the instructions until prompted to leave a message with all of the following information:

1. Your full name and your physician’s name.

2. The name, location, and phone number of your pharmacy.

3. Medication(s) name(s).

4. Medication(s) dose(s) (e.g. 150mg).

5. Quantity required in months.

This is an uninsured medical service. As such, there will be a fee of $20 for each call to your pharmacy.

That’s it. Your prescription will be phoned in to your pharmacy, you will be notified from our office that it has been completed, and you will receive an invoice in the mail.
